Note:  Yesterday we concluded our review of nine years of drafting by the Winnipeg Jets franchise.  Here is the full year by year retrospective (2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019) Later today on the site we will have a look at all 63 players selected by the Jets franchise as a collective group.

Note II:  The big news on Wednesday was hearing from RFA Kyle Connor who spoke about his contract status ahead of him teeing off in The Players Cup here in Winnipeg.

Jets news:

CBC: Jets’ status as Stanley Cup contenders takes hit with loss of several key players Season preview for the Jets time and I suspect that based on what we have heard already it will be an ‘us against the world’ season next year in Winnipeg (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

Winnipeg Sun: Connor shoots for long-term deal with Jets Jets fans will be happy to hear that Connor prefers a long term deal but nobody is getting too excited until we have confirmation of a deal actually transpiring.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Contract talks ‘out of your control,’ but Jets’ Connor not worried.  (Paywall).  Good Friend of IC Mike McIntyre was at Southwood Golf & Country Club on Wednesday and he had the chance to question Connor about the topic everyone in Manitoba wants to talk about.

The Athletic: 2019 NHL farm system rankings – 27 Winnipeg Jets. (Paywall). With a number of the Jets prospects making the jump to the NHL the farm system is taking a hit.

Elite Prospects:  Prospect Pool Rankings – 25 Winnipeg Jets.  (Paywall).  Cam Robinson released his rankings at the end of July but we figured with all the Draft retrospectives we’ve been doing around here and with Pronman’s article above it would be a good link for today’s papers.

Jets video:

TSN: Are the Jets under pressure to get Connor and Laine signed? With the NHL season fast approaching, TSN’s Sara Orlesky shares her sense of how much pressure the Jets may be feeling to get Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor signed before puck drop.

TSN:  Connor doesn’t want to miss Jets’ camp, focused more on long-term dealConnor is staying optimistic that he can get a new contract worked out with the Jets before training camp begins. Sara Orlesky has more on the RFA, who also hinted that he’s more focused on a long-term deal in Winnipeg.

Official Jets site:  ON THE ROADFrom the gym to the cottage, JC Lipon spends his summer in Regina, Saskatchewan building towards what he hopes will be his best season yet.

Jets audio:

On the 43rd episode of Ground Control, Jamie Thomas sits down with Jets Head Coach Paul Maurice to chat about the off-season, his excitement for training camp next month and much more!
