Note: Last summer the Jets had five RFAs who filed for arbitration and the first one signed exactly one week later (which would be one year ago today) when they agreed to terms with Connor Hellebuyck on a six-year deal. Andrew Copp also signed his last contract with the Jets two years ago today. Will lightning strike twice? Stay tuned as RFA watch continues here in The Peg. Speaking of Jets RFAs last night on the 31 Thoughts Podcast hockey insider Elliotte Friedman spent some time talking about Patrik Laine.
Note II: The Moose released their full 76 game season schedule on Wednesday and followed that up with their full promo schedule for the 2019-20 season on Thursday. After four years of Polar Bear jerseys those will be put on the shelf for the upcoming season and the team will introduce a new one which honours indigenous culture.
Jets news:
Elite Prospects: Post-draft profile of Jets 2nd round pick Simon Lundmark. Missed this one but well worth it to gain some further insight into the Jets 2nd round pick from the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver last month.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Winnipeg could be looking at two professional goaltending platoons in 2019-20. (Paywall). There is no doubt that this has become a position of strength within the Jets/Moose organization.
NHL.com: Heinola quietly focused on future with Jets. Lots riding on the shoulders of the young D man but thankfully for him that pressure won’t come for at least a year (or more) down the road.
Jets audio:
Winnipeg Jets assistant coach Todd Woodcroft joined Andrew Paterson on The Afternoon Ride. They discussed his upcoming appearance at a coaching seminar for Hockey Manitoba, his experience on the Jets coaching staff, the role of an NHL head coach and his preparation for the upcoming season.
