The only Jets prospect still playing in his league’s playoffs last week was Edison Engle, as the 2025 sixth-rounder and his Brantford Bulldogs competed in the OHL Conference Championship. They ultimately fell to the Barrie Colts in seven games. It was a surprising result, as the Bulldogs rolled through the first two rounds with an 8–0 record and even held a 3–1 series lead before dropping three straight.
In the series, Engle, a 6’2″ left-shot defenceman, recorded one goal and four assists in what was both his first and last season in the OHL. His path is somewhat unusual, having played in the USHL before spending a single season in the OHL ahead of his move to the NCAA. When we spoke with him at Development Camp last summer he was committed to Ohio State.

However, it was noted that he had Western Michigan University listed on his Instagram profile, which raised some questions given his previous commitment to the Buckeyes.
I checked in with Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald, my go-to source for college hockey news, and he confirmed that Engle has committed to Western Michigan for the fall.
That means rather than playing alongside fellow prospect Sascha Boumedienne (2025 first rounder), who transferred from Boston University to Ohio State last month, Engle will instead join another Jets prospect, Zach Nehring (2023 third rounder), who is entering his junior year at Western Michigan.
