Note: The Jets are done. The Moose are done. We will still try to get you anything relevant to the pro hockey clubs of Manitoba during the next little bit. Of course the big focus is on the 2026 NHL Draft for which the Jets hold the 8th overall selection. We will be spending quite a bit of time learning about the players who could hear their name get called by Winnipeg at the end of June.
Note II: It was a late addition last night but some Jets RFA news (technically) as Rasmus Kupari has signed a one-year extension to stay in Switzerland with HC Lugano.
Note III: All five Jets players at the World Championships advanced to the semi-finals. Mark Scheifele had two primary assists in the win for Canada. He along with Gabriel Vilardi and Dylan DeMelo will take on Ville Heinola and Finland on Saturday. Meanwhile, Nino Niederreiter and the host Swiss will face Norway.
Jets news:
La Liberté: Nino Niederreiter talks Swiss hockey and about his NHL future. It’s still very clear that he remains passionate about the state of the sport in his home country and also pretty clear how difficult last season was on him. Quotes like this (using translate) illustrate that reality for him. “If it were to continue like last year, I don’t really see myself continuing to play hockey.”

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Craig Button talks 2026 NHL Draft and some options for the Jets at 8th overall. TSN’s Director of Scouting Craig Button shared his insight on the IC Hockey Show, ahead of next month’s Draft with some thoughts on players Winnipeg could draft with the eighth overall pick. He also shared thoughts about whether they might trade it to fill an immediate need on this hockey club. Plenty of good insight from the affable analyst.
