Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Confident Ehlers playing his best hockey for Jets in early going. While I have always thought highly of his game and skill it is quite evident that he has simply hit another level this season.

Winnipeg Sun: Special time for Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois, with his son joining Jets organization. Pierre-Luc’s father Eric is more comfortable behind the bench than he is being the focus of attention behind the camera, a job handled by his head coach Pascal Vincent. But when you’re star centre son gets traded to your organization your insight will be sought out. And he provided quite a bit of that on Monday.

Winnipeg Sun:  Stastny fine with giving it a go on the wingNo surprise that the veteran centre is prepared to do what it takes for the club to win. At this point in his career he wants to add Stanley Cup champ to his resume.

Winnipeg Free Press: Dubois boosts Jets’ strength down the middle. (Paywall).  To go deep in the playoffs it is imperative to have centre depth and this move certainty provides that element to the Winnipeg Jets.

Winnipeg Free Press: Nobody knows newest Jet better than Moose assistant coach. (Paywall).  His dad provided plenty of background for the type of person and player that will be on this Jets team.

Winnipeg Free Press: Lowry chipping in on the attack. (Paywall). Three goals in six games as opposed to four in 49 like last season and you’ve got yourself a breakout season for the staple third line centre.  And in a contract  year that could lead to a lot of cha-ching by the end of the season.

The Chronicle Herald: Jets didn’t get enough for a guy who could be the next Teemu. To me this just isn’t that same thing. I actually think the reality is that had Pierre-Luc Dubois not become available as a result of what happened last week in Columbus the likeliest of outcomes was a Laine for pieces trade that would have left Jets fans apolplectic as opposed to the possibility of making your centre depth close to the top in the NHL.

Global News: Jets prospect Cole Perfetti can’t wait to make his pro debut. For a young kid you get quite the sense of maturity when he speaks. There was no bemoaning not being with the big club in his chat with us on Monday. Instead it was a kid who was prepared to work his ass off in the AHL with the stated goal of getting noticed by the big club, whether that meant a recall this season or next.

Global News:  Laine leaves lasting legacy in WinnipegKen reflects on what the 2016 2nd overall pick meant to this city.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Laine trade is a sad turn of events in Jets history. Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press joined Andrew Paterson and Rick Ralph on the Afternoon Ride. They discussed what lead up to the Jets trading Patrik Laine, the mystery surrounding why Pierre Luc Dubois wanted a trade out of Columbus, if we can crown a winner of the trade and the Jets start to the season.

They discussed the Patrik Laine-Pierre Luc Dubois trade, how it came to this moment, the response from the GMs he polled on the trade and why so many teams were interested in acquiring Dubois.

TSN 1050 Toronto: Paul Maurice on the North Division, what went wrong with Laine & the acquisition of Pierre-Luc Dubois. Head Coach of the Winnipeg Jets Paul Maurice joined the OverDrive guys earlier today and got into the start of the Jets season, including how he feels about the North Division. As well Paul touched on the loss of Patrik Laine, but how excited he is to have Pierre-Luc Dubois on his squad.

TSN 1040 Vancouver: Jets likely better long-term with Dubois, but some sadness in market over seeing 2nd overall pick leaveJim Toth from TSN1290 in Winnipeg discusses the Laine/Dubois trade, suggesting there was bit of friction in the Jets room, seeing Winnipeg winning the trade, but also understanding why some fans are sad about seeing Laine go.
