Note: Just when you thought you could settle in for a relaxing Friday night to watch a flick a Darren Dreger bomb changed the direction of last evening as he spoke about a Pierre Luc Dubois trade heating up and said the Jets are in the mix.

Note II: Even before the Dreger news it was a busy day for the Jets on Friday as we learned that Patrik Laine won’t be a player today as he continues to deal with his upper-body injury. As a result the Jets moved Laine to IR as well as made three other transactions on Friday.  All of this took place after the optional skate they held where the roster became a little more clear after coach Maurice spoke although questions do remain.

Note III: Today the Jets will kick off their seven game homestand when they conclude their three game mini-series with the Senators.  Morning skate is scheduled for 10:30 AM so be sure to keep it locked here to get the latest information and interviews.  Puck drop is at 9 pm and be sure to check back once the final buzzer goes for our post-game recap including interviews with players and coach Maurice.

Note IV:  Join us for three hours of Jets and NHL talk on Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg this morning starting at 9:00 a.m. CT. Today’s guests on the show include: Sara Orlesky (TSN), Daniel Fink (Manitoba Moose), Josh Cooper (The Athletic) and Dave Jamieson (TSN 1260 Edmonton). You can listen to the show here.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets coach Maurice ditches glasses on the bench to get out of the fog. Mike McIntyre’s wife deserves kudos for picking up on that detail.

Winnipeg Sun: Expect more heated exchanges when Jets meet Senators for third straight game. Hatefests aren’t to be unexpected at the end of these three and four game series. We usually see it after two games in the AHL although Nathan Beaulieu did make an important point on the value of two points.

Winnipeg Free Press: High-skilled Jets can handle the rough stuff. (Paywall).  This isn’t the big heavy team from a few years back but there are enough guys who can handle their business on this team.

Winnipeg Free Press: Keep the Canadian Division going forward. (Paywall). I’m not sure if the NHL will do that but they probably should do these baseball style series moving forward.

The Athletic Winnipeg:  Ville Heinola’s 2021 debut: A shift-by-shift review shows he belongs. (Paywall).  He certainly looked calm, cool and collected in his season debut for the Jets on Thursday.  Murat broke it down shift-by-shift.

Sportsnet: 10 things we learned from Senators’ four-game homestand. If you’d like to learn more about the Jets opponent tonight check this out.
