Note: The attention this week will focus on the end of season media availability which saw Mark Scheifele & Andrew Copp speak on Tuesday with two more players (Bryan Little @ 10 AM & Josh Morrissey @ 12:30 PM) chatting today and then things will conclude with coach Paul Maurice and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff on Thursday. As always we will have it covered.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Next-year country an empty feeling for Jets. Paul wrote about a number of the topics covered in the media availability with Andrew Copp and Mark Scheifele.
Winnipeg Sun: Scheifele thankful that he’s OK. Based on the way he reacted it seemed plausible that it was going to be a very bad injury but he was able to get some reassurance that it wasn’t going to be as significant as he believed and he sounds like he is well on his way to recovery.
Winnipeg Free Press: Copp hoping his play proves No. 2 centre worthiness. (Paywall). It is a tall task to take on that role. There is a big responsibility to produce and that is one area that Copp acknowledges he will need to improve in order to seize that spot.
Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele feels lucky, says “I’ll be back better than ever”. (Paywall). While it must be difficult to come to terms with the reality that he trained to play less than half of one period the Jets top centre knows he has plenty of career left.
Sportsnet: Scheifele has ‘no hard feelings’ towards Flames’ Tkachuk after injury. Quite a bit was discussed with the Jets top centre including the next wave of prospects who will be responsible for helping Winnipeg reach that level they played at previously.
The Athletic Winnipeg: The top 10 prospects likely to be available when Jets draft at No. 10. (Paywall). As this is a deep draft there are plenty of options which Murat details in this article.
Jets video:
TSN: Scheifele not holding grudges over Tkachuk incident. When Matthew Tkachuk collided with Mark Scheifele early in Game 1 of the Jets/Flames series, it spelled the end of the season for the Winnipeg forward. Scheifele spoke publicly about it for the first time Tuesday, and as Sara Orlesky reports, he’s not holding any grudges.
Sportsnet: Scheifele initially thought he tore his Achilles after Tkachuk hit. Mark Scheifele talks with the media about his injury after taking a hit from Matthew Tkachuk and how hard it was to miss the remainder of the series against the Calgary Flames.
