Note:  The Jets came into the game against the Capitals having lost two straight and before the game even began they lost Sami Niku who was hurt warming up playing soccer.  Once the contest got underway the home side took a 3-0 lead at about the midpoint of the 2nd and it was looking like it was going to be a bloodbath.  However Nikolaj Ehlers would score once in the 2nd and then Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele would force this game to extra time.  In the end the Jets lost 4-3 in a shootout but they earned a valuable point and would end the four game road trip 1-2-1.  They are off today and will be back on the ice on Thursday as they conclude this home and home series against the Capitals in Winnipeg.

Note II:  The Moose have another day of practice scheduled today as they continue to prepare for the Wolves this weekend.  They found out on Tuesday that they will be without the services of veteran forward Ryan White who was suspended for two games after boarding an opponent in Laval this past weekend.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg:  Winnipeg needs to bottle that comeback formula for 17 more games.  (Paywall).  That fight won’t be easy to replicate but the Jets don’t have any choice when you consider they’ve only got 17 games left in the regular season with plenty of action against teams around them in the standings.

Winnipeg Sun:Game of two truths ends with Jets claiming one point against Capitals.  Scott recaps the action from his seat inside Capital One Arena.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets show some fight against Caps. (Paywall).  When they were down 3-0 it was hard to expect them to force OT.  Will this be a springboard forward for this squad?

CBC:  Ovechkin bookends game with goals in Capitals’ shootout win over JetsHe is certainly have a flair for the dramatic.  Nice way to being and end the game for one of the most prolific goal scorers that has ever played in the NHL.

The Athletic Winnipeg:  Charting Winnipeg’s path back to Stanley Cup contention.  (Paywall).  Murat is already casting his eyes to the summer and what could be for this Winnipeg franchise.

TSN: Ovechkin shines on the night he’s honoured for reaching 700. Alex Ovechkin was honoured before the game for reaching 700 goals and it didn’t take him long to get 701. Dennis Beyak and Kevin Sawyer recap the nights festivities with the Jets salvaging a valuable point.

TSN: Gritty Jets grind away to salvage a point against Capitals. They found themselves down three-goals, but they battled back to push the Capitals to overtime and ultimately lost in a shootout. Craig Button credits Winnipeg for their grittiness and ability to come back and get a valuable point.
