Day 1 Free Agency Recap: Tanev signs with Pens | Beaulieu re-signs with Jets | Myers signs with Canucks | Lindholm signs with Bruins | Schilling re-signs with Jets |

Day 2 Free AgencyJets sign Bitetto| Jets sign Letestu |

Note:  It was a wild and wacky busy holiday Monday aka Free Agent frenzy although it was a relatively quiet day for the Jets as you can see above with them just re-signing two players.  Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff addressed the media (which was ahead of the Schilling signing).

Note II:  The biggest news of the day wasn’t related to the Jets as the Habs caused twitter to get ruffled when they announced they had Hurricanes RFA Sebastian Aho sign an Offer Sheet.  While the ‘Canes didn’t seem too concerned (even making a twitter poll asking if they should match) hockey analyst Pierre LeBrun did get Jets fans a bit nervous when he indicated (for the second time in five days) that teams were checking in with Winnipeg RFA Kyle Connor.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: The Jets were a patient, quiet winner on Day 1 of free agency — but still need to fix their defence. (Paywall).  Murat looks at the Jets moves to date, looks around at what is left and how he envisions the Jets will proceed.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets did what they had to doStaying away from signing over priced talent is pretty much what needed to happen considering the contracts (Laine, Connor, Copp & Pionk) the Jets will have to get done in the next little while and those they could get done (Morrissey) although the need isn’t as pressing.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets keep Beaulieu, lose Myers, Tanev Ken recaps the things that happened on Monday.

Winnipeg Free Press: Cash crisis leaves Jets with lack of options.  (Paywall).  On paper the Jets look like they’ve got quite a bit of cap space left but as Mike details that has been allotted to the restricted free agents they still need to sign.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Myers accepts Canucks’ courting, Tanev packs up for Penguins.  (Paywall).  Jason was at the arena and has this recap of the action.

The Athletic Winnipeg:  What is Winnipeg’s best play in free agency? Be patient, read and react.  (Paywall).  Wondering what the best course of action for the Jets will be?  Murat charts the path he thinks is most prudent.

Jets video:

TSN: How will the Jets cope with ‘significant’ talent losses. The Jets lost a lot of talent with Tyler Myers, Jacob Trouba, Brandon Tanev gone among others and they are faced with a challenging offseason. The Free Agent Frenzy panel discuss whether or not they will take a step back with those significant losses.
