Note: Rounds 2-7 of the NHL Draft begin today starting at 12 noon CT. We will be bringing you wall to wall coverage here on the website and on today’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show which will start at Noon CT on TSN 1290 Winnipeg to coincide with the start time in Vancouver. Throughout the day we will chat with the Jets draft picks as part of our comprehensive coverage which will continue until the end of the draft and we will end our day with a chat with Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. For reference we’ve got a handy Jets Draft Primer.
Note II: The Jets took Finnish left shot defenceman Ville Heinola with the 20th pick last night in Vancouver. Following the conclusion of the 1st round GM Kevin Cheveldayoff spoke and you can listen to that here.
Note III: The NHL released the home openers for all 31 teams on Friday afternoon and it meant three Jets games are now revealed with the full season schedule coming out on Tuesday.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets select defenceman Heinola. Left side of the Jets looking like it could be a position of strength in a few years with Heinola and Samberg.
Winnipeg Sun: Maurice sticking with approach: Jets head coach doesn’t see need for philosophical change. The Jets bench boss spoke for 25 minutes on Friday afternoon and Ken covered it.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets go with Finnish D-man. (Paywall). Lots of folks seem happy with this pick.
Winnipeg Free Press: ‘A little bit of a change is a good thing’. (Paywall). Mike was also in on the scrum with the Jets coach.
Sportsnet: Jets dip back into Finnish prospect pool with high IQ Heinola. Sounds like Winnipeg may have quite the find with this D man.
ESPN: Pick-by-pick analysis. Read what they’ve got to say about the Jets newest prospect.
Illegal Curve: Jets to start 2019-20 season on road in NYC; home opener vs Minnesota. Of course the Jets will take on Brendan Lemieux and Jacob Trouba in the first game of the season.
Recap of the Jets 1st round at the NHL Draft:

I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on TSN 1290 Winnipeg starting at 9 am.
