Game 1: Jets vs Rangers pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.

As much as we hate a little dusting of snow in October maybe it is appropriate on the opening of the NHL season in Winnipeg as the Jets welcome the Rangers to town to kick off the 2022-23 campaign.

With the Jets placing Dominic Toninato on waivers yesterday they will start the year with 13 forwards, eight defencemen and two goalies.

Skate news:

Ken Wiebe of Sporstnet confirms that the Jets are rolling with the same lines and D pairs from yesterday’s practice.

Jets projected lines & D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Ehlers
Perfetti-Dubois-Wheeler
Barron-Lowry-Appleton
Maenalanen-Gustafsson-Gagner

Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Stanley-Scmidt

Hellebuyck
Rittich

Betway Odds:

The Jets are coming into a season where they will be ‘running it back’ with a team that didn’t make the playoffs and only changed their coaching staff, yet hope springs eternal at the start of every regular season. While New York comes into the game 2-0-0 they did play last night in Minnesota and this is their third game in four nights. So even though the Rangers are rolling the odds are in the Jets favour.
