Note: The final day before the regular season began saw the Jets assign Danny Zhilkin and Henry Thrun to the Moose after both players cleared waivers. Winnipeg then claimed goaltender Clay Stevenson off waivers from the Capitals organization, a move which necessitated two subsequent transactions as Brayden Yager and Domenic DiVincentiis were assigned to Manitoba, finalizing the club’s 23-man roster.
Note II: The finalized roster includes 18-year-old eighth overall pick Viggo Björck, who becomes the fourth first-round pick in Jets history to make the team out of training camp, as well as fifth-year pro Tyrel Bauer, who has earned his first NHL roster spot.
Note III: The Jets are off today after returning home from a few days of team bonding in Colorado Springs. They will hit the ice tomorrow at hockey for all centre for their first practice of the regular season. We will have it covered.
Note IV: We went behind the scenes at Moose production day on Monday, capturing plenty of content and sitting down for some fun interviews. This will be our 12th straight year covering Manitoba, and there’s plenty to follow this season, from Jets prospects to the stories across the roster.
Note IV: Speaking of the AHL club of Manitoba they are hitting the ice this morning for another day of training camp as they work towards the season opener on Saturday afternoon here in Winnipeg. Winnipeg Sun: Jets get their backup in Stevenson. It was the least surprising waiver claim. It wasn’t a question as to whether Winnipeg was going to grab a goalie off the waiver wire. It was simply which netminder would they be selecting.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets pick up netminder as relatively new 23-man roster announced. (Paywall). Lots of additions to the roster which certainly has a new look to it, despite all the returning players.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets defenceman Tyrel Bauer spent whole summer working on getting to the next level. (Paywall). If you spent any time at hfac this summer you’d see Tyrel working out with Moose skills coach Dave Cameron as he looked to get his game to the next level.
