Note: The Jets had Monday off as they look to reset following their fifth straight loss on Sunday. With the schedule only getting tougher, Winnipeg will need to be at its best with the Panthers in town to conclude this two-game homestand. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM CT, so stay tuned for our pre-game report to ensure you’re up to date on all the latest. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.
Note II: It’s been nearly three weeks since Josh Morrissey suffered his injury, and close to two weeks since Vlad Namestnikov was sidelined. Both players were initially listed as week-to-week, so perhaps today’s morning skate will provide some clarity on where they stand in their respective recoveries.
Note III: Once we’ve wrapped up the morning Jets news, we’ll turn our attention to another Daily Dose of Illegal Curve Hockey starting at 3 PM CT.
Note IV: After the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Florida this evening, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show. Join us as we break down and analyze the game starting around 9:40 PM CT.
Note V: The Moose are back in action as they look to remain perfect against Chicago when they face the Wolves for the fourth time in just their tenth game of the season. It’s an early start with Manitoba playing its first school day game of the year. The good news is that Walker Duehr joined the group for practice on Monday. The bad news is that injuries to Ashton Sautner and Dysin Mayo forced the club to make an ECHL recall and sign a player to a PTO. Puck drop is at 11 AM CT.
Note VI: While Heritage Classic weekend is behind us, the positive feelings it generated continue to resonate. Emily Byfuglien, wife of former Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien, shared a heartfelt message of thanks to Winnipeg following her family’s return to the city. Former Jets captain Blake Wheeler also offered some reflections on his time in Winnipeg and what the weekend meant to him. Both served as reminders of the lasting connection between this city and the players who have called it home.
Note VII: One former Jet who isn’t quite ready to reflect on his time in Winnipeg is Connor Hellebuyck. Speaking to the media on Monday, the newly acquired Devils netminder indicated he wasn’t ready to share his promised message to Jets fans or discuss the circumstances surrounding his trade request. He suggested both conversations would happen at another time, leaving those questions unanswered for now.
