In this edition of 32 Thoughts LIVE from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kyle Bukauskas and Elliotte Friedman begin by unpacking the Connor Hellebuyck trade between the Jets and Devils. They wrap a bow on Heritage Classic weekend in Winnipeg.

At some point last week, Connor Hellebuyck informed the Jets he was coming to Winnipeg to do a physical and Friedman indicated as part of that there was a chance 37 was going to talk to the media. He was going to “make himself available”. He added that people were being publicly respectful of each other but that if Hellebuyck had spoke the “gloves would have gone off” and I think the Jets would have “responded in kind”. And that things could have gotten worse if they all started talking to the media.
He feels the organization felt it was “time to do this”. Even if they had agreed to postpone his physical to this week there was a chance that he spoke to media and Friedman indicated “nobody wanted that”.
Friedman said if he was giving advice to Connor Hellebuyck he would tell him “Take the W. You’ve won.” He got traded. Spoke to the idea that if 37 said things, the Jets may feel the need to respond to protect the market. He went on to say that time could heal this wound with the market but that it depends on how things proceed from here.
The Jets portion regarding Hellebuyck was the first 12 minutes. Then they spend some time discussing things from a Devils perspective which runs until the 15:30 mark.
Then they discuss some of the trade options for Winnipeg.
They then spent the next five minutes talking about the Heritage Classic.
