Note: After earning points in each of their first four games to open the season, the Jets saw their impressive start come to a screeching halt as the Ducks handed them a 5-1 defeat, marking Winnipeg’s first regulation loss of the campaign. Still, given all the noise and distractions surrounding this team heading into the season, a 3-1-1 record through five games is a pretty impressive start.
Note II: After playing five games in eight days the Jets will stay off the ice today instead doing off ice workouts before taking Sunday off. There will be a media session at 10 AM CT.
Note III: The Moose suffered their first loss of the season last night in Grand Rapids, falling 2-1 to the Griffins in a playoff rematch. Both goaltenders were excellent as Domenic DiVincentiis made 31 saves while Michal Postava turned aside 36 of 37 shots. Noah Gregor scored his third goal in as many games for Manitoba, which will look to bounce back tonight in Chicago as they face the Wolves in the second game of their road trip. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.
Note IV: We hope you’ll join us at 9 AM CT for a special edition of the Illegal Curve Hockey Show as we celebrate 16 years of Saturday mornings together. While this marks our final Saturday show, a new chapter begins Tuesday, October 13th, when we move to a daily format. But before we turn the page, we want to hear from you as we celebrate 16 years of Saturdays with Illegal Curve Hockey so join us here!

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ game flies south against Ducks. (Paywall). It sure started right with a 7-1 shot edge but since they couldn’t solve Dostal, the visitors seized all the momentum.

Winnipeg Free Press: Stuart-Stevenson tandem gives Jets time for best Hellebuyck trade deal. (Paywall). There is no question that it calmed the waters a bit to give Winnipeg this sort of start to their season. Had they gotten off to a 1-3-1 record there would be a lot of fire under the seat of GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.
Global News: Jets suffer first regulation loss of season, falling 5-1 to Anaheim. It wasn’t a particularly notable performance by the home team which really needs some secondary scoring.
