Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | July 16, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: We spoke with Jets management, prospects and staff throughout draft weekend and Development Camp, and we’ll continue turning the most newsworthy comments from those interviews into standalone stories in the coming weeks. Yesterday, we took a closer look at goalie prospect Samuel Hrenák and the options in front of him as he reflected on being drafted and focuses on finding the right path forward.

Note II: The Jets will welcome the Bruins to Winnipeg for their home opener on Oct 2nd. It’s a change from the last four years, which featured Boston making its annual visit to Winnipeg in December. The full 84-game schedule is set to be released today.

Note III: The Jets avoided arbitration by signing Cole Perfetti to a five-year deal carrying a $6 million AAV. That’s right where we expected the deal to fall. This leaves Winnipeg with just one RFA remaining in Tyrel Bauer and I’d expect this deal to get wrapped up fairly soon.

The Jeremy and Joe Show: Discussing Connor Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets. Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase are joined by Winnipeg Jets color analyst Mitchell Clinton to get a Winnipeg perspective on what’s going on with star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The guys start by discussing how likely it is Hellebuyck gets dealt, and Clinton explains why it’s hard to predict.
