Note: We spoke with Jets management, prospects and staff throughout draft weekend and Development Camp, and we’ll continue turning the most newsworthy comments from those interviews into standalone stories in the coming weeks.
Note II: We got wind on Saturday of the big news being top Jets prospect Viggo Björck would be leaving the SHL to join the Jets organization for the upcoming season. On Monday it was announced by Winnipeg that he has signed his three-year ELC.
Note III: We learned on Sunday via PuckPedia that the Jets and Cole Perfetti‘s arbitration date is set for July 20th. Winnipeg have Perfetti as well as Tyrel Bauer as their last two RFAs to sign.
Note IV: It didn’t take long for 2026 third-round pick Samuel Hrenák to earn another opportunity. The Jets goalie prospect has been invited to Slovakia’s National Junior Team summer camp as he begins his push toward representing his country at the 2027 World Juniors.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Bjorck inks three-year, entry-level contract with Jets. (Paywall). Wieber wrote about yesterday’s big signing including a chat he had with Josef Boumedienne, who is the father of fellow first-rounder Sascha.
Winnipeg Sun: Riding the 61: Jets ink first-rounder Björck to ELC. And he became the first player for a Jets team to wear 61.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Why the Winnipeg Jets are giving Viggo Björck a chance to be their No. 2 centre. (Paywall). It will be rare air for the Jets first-rounder as he gets a chance to play in the NHL right after hearing his name called at the NHL Draft, making him just the fourth Winnipeg first-round pick in the last 16 drafts to accomplish that feat. If he is able to stick in the NHL for the entire season, he would become just the second player in franchise history to do so, joining Patrik Laine.

Daily Faceoff: Five NHL players who may benefit from positive regression in 2026-27. No surprise he’s got Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck on this list.
