Note: As September comes to an end today we wanted to thank everyone who helped the Pass it Forward program which provides help to youth in Winnipeg who wish to play hockey but require aid in getting the necessary equipment. The program is in it’s 4th year, they have a brand new website, an active twitter feed @PassItForwardca, and they are giving away a team-signed picture of last season’s opening faceoff. We hope you had a chance to check it out.

Edmonton Journal: After Katz apology, Edmonton mayor says next step is public discussion. As it seems to be a standard negotiating tactic amongst NHL owners, I’m guessing Katz is a little shocked that it backfired so brutally. Hopefully now he will just detail his plans to Edmonton city council and the team can start building a shiny, new arena.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues reorganize business side of operation. Has to be depressing to see a franchise that achieved 109 points last season, had a number of sellouts and still lose all that money.
Montreal Gazette: Markham arena good fit for NHL. Roustan has certainly developed what appears to be a good model for a building without an NHL tenant (memo to those in the next story) although it is clear that Markam will be angling for a team.
Globe and Mail: Revised arena agreement would see prospective Coyotes owner Jamison receive less in first five years. This quote pretty much sums up this dog and pony show from city councilman Phil Lieberman; “I have no idea,” Lieberman said of what he expects to see in the new lease agreement. “The city is so screwed up nobody knows what’s going on.”
