Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets will look to get back on track today against the Islanders. No morning skate for Winnipeg since the game starts so early although we did learn in yesterday’s Practice Report to expect lineup changes. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 12 PM CDT.

Note II:  This afternoon, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and New York, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: The Moose get loose against the Canucks this afternoon for the first time this season as they kick off a two-game set against Abbotsford this weekend. Puck drop is at 2 PM CDT.

Note IV: Be sure to join us this morning for the Illegal Curve Hockey Show for two hours of Jets talk starting at 9 AM. We will be joined by Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press and Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Perfetti works hard, remains positive while waiting to return to action. (Paywall). The good news for the forward is he will get a chance today to have an impact as Mike reported yesterday he’s expected to return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for four straight games.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets get right to work on resetting penalty kill after ‘unacceptable’ performance. Special teams have been this team’s Achilles heel this season and while they got some of it worked out as they got their power play on track (21st) but the penalty kill still isn’t where it needs to be (currently 25th).

The Athletic Winnipeg: Are the Jets ‘frauds,’ or are there legitimate reasons to believe in them? (Paywall). This whole frauds business has me thinking of Marty McFly being called “yellow” in Back to the Future. Murat delves into the subject and tries to answer the above query.

Global News: Jets’ eastern road trip will bring positive attention, despite Thursday’s loss. John isn’t wrong. When the Jets get to bigger media markets suddenly folks recall there is an NHL team from Winnipeg. Suspect Hellebuyck’s performance in NYC against the Rangers likely helped solidify the Vezina for him.
