Winnipeg Jets Practice Report

The Jets hit the ice in preparation for the Islanders.

The Jets are coming off a bad special teams effort which saw them give up three power play goals against last night in New Jersey as their three-game winning streak came to an abrupt end. Today they are in East Meadows, NY to practice as they prepare to face the Islanders tomorrow morning.

Skate news:

As per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press the only player missing today was Nikolaj Ehlers. These are the lines and D pairs as reported by him sans number 27.

Lines and D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Iafallo
Perfetti-Monahan-Toffoli
Niederreiter-Lowry-Appleton
Barron-Gustafsson-Namestnikov
Kupari

Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Samberg-Schmidt
Stanley-Miller

Ehlers update:

Just a maintenance day for Nikolaj Ehlers according to associate coach Scott Arniel. He indicated Ehlers “had some things were lingering” and given they play three games in four days they didn’t need him to “work on his skating” and prefer him to be fresh for the games against the Islanders (Saturday) and Capitals (Sunday).

Lineup news:

More from Mike who got some lineup intel ahead of the game tomorrow. He indicated that Cole Perfetti draws back in (for whom is unknown), Nate Schmidt returns for Colin Miller and Connor Hellebuyck has the net.

Head coach not ready to resume coaching this weekend:

Last nugget from Mike is that head coach Rick Bowness won’t return to the bench for the pair of games this weekend. He remains in Winnipeg after having a minor medical procedure.
