Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: Happy Fourth of July aka Independence Day to all of our friends down south.

Note II: For the first time in years Jets prospects will be heading to Winnipeg for Development Camp. A really good crop of prospects for fans to check out starting on tomorrow. Check out the full list of players attending and skate times here.

Note III: On Sunday I reported that Moose leading scorer Alex Limoges was heading to the Washington Capitals organization for next season and on Monday the folks at CapFriendly confirmed the financial terms of the deal. There was a new signing announced yesterday as Swedish speedster Axel Jonsson-Fjallby got himself a two-year contract.

Note IV: Couple of chats with new/old Jets scheduled for today as both Alex Iafallo and Laurent Brossoit will be speaking this afternoon. We will have the media availabilities covered.

Note V: A familiar face on the Moose bench will be heading to a division rival next season as Greg Meireles has signed with the Iowa Wild for next season.

Jets news:

New York Post: Blake Wheeler hoping to be perfect ‘complement’ to loaded Rangers roster. A reduced role and reduced responsibility may actually lead to quite a bit more for the former Jets captain.

Winnipeg Sun: Ex-Jets captain Wheeler tips cap to Winnipeg. It seemed clear that both the organization and the player kept open lines of communication about this process so as to avoid creating unnecessary conflict. Wheeler also became part of the community during his 12 years in Winnipeg.

Sportsnet: 32 Thoughts Podcast. I’ve transcribed the Jets material which focusses on the team’s mentality following last week’s Dubois trade/Wheeler buyout as well as Vlad Namestnikov being really happy in Winnipeg and the hope for Cole Perfetti.
