It’s the Final Episode of the 2022-23 season and Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed all 32 teams including the Winnipeg Jets. Marek began by suggesting that they are expecting more from Kevin Cheveldayoff after he pulled off the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade and the Blake Wheeler buyout.
Friedman however isn’t quite as certain. “I’m not saying that. We talked about this, the draft was over and there was a different feeling around the Jets. They got a first round pick that a lot of people gave very positive reviews to. They made a trade that a lot of people gave very positive reviews to. And I think they just want to breathe. They want to talk with Hellebuyck. They want to talk with Scheifele. And kinda see where everyone is.”
He continued “Cheveldayoff’s instinct is not to rush into anything and I think they just kind of want to see how everybody reacts to this…..but I heard they just wanted to breathe after that week. I think they’re still looking at some depth adds.”

He went on “Namestnikov is an interesting guy because at a time where a lot of people talk about who wants to leave Winnipeg, I heard Namestnikov was really happy there and he really liked it there. Obviously he signs so he did but you kind of need those things.”
Friedman on Jets 2020 1st rounder Cole Perfetti:
“I think a big one next year is Perfetti. Getting healthy I think they’re really hoping he takes the next steps.”
But ultimately it may be a pause for a bit in Winnipeg.
“I think everybody just wants to sit back and take a time out and see how everyone feels after that Kings deal because those guys those are good players, they can help them and I think everybody just wants to see how the organization reacts.”
