Note: The Jets, in front of their “home” crowd, lost a disappointing game last night on Hockey Night in Canada to the Leafs which saw the other “home” team take it 4-1. Update: Jets we’re scheduled to practice but they cancelled so they’ll next be on the ice on Monday as they get ready for the Blues.
Note II: The Moose defeated the Admirals 5-2 in Milwaukee as they improved to 3-0-1-0 on the season with their third straight victory. Goals came from Declan Chisholm, Jansen Harkins (third goal in third straight game), Jeff Malott, Kristian Reichel and Brad Lambert (2nd goal in AHL, empty netter). A big win for netminder Arvid Holm who made 33 saves including this one on the penalty shot.
Note III: It was an impressive eight road trip by the Winnipeg Ice out west that saw them lose just once. They won again last night in Kelowna, which was their sixth in a row, to improve to 11-1-0 on the season. Goalie Daniel Hauser improved to 9-0-0 with the win.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: Jets’ goal scoring woes continue in frustrating loss to Maple Leafs. The concern before was whether there would be enough secondary scoring but the Jets have concerns across the board in this regard. Wieber recaps the game.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets bite tongues on officiating after suffering third loss in four games to Maple Leafs. The officiating was horrible across the board. It probably impacted Winnipeg more than Toronto but it was bad either way.
Toronto Sun: Maple Leafs get contributions from all areas, kick off trip with decisive victory in Winnipeg. Gain insight into the game from a writer that covers the opponent of the Jets.
Winnipeg Free Press: Leafs escape Winnipeg with 2 points and the zebras’ blessing. (Paywall). I am not one to believe in conspiracy theories but I do believe in incompetence and it was on full display by the zebras last night.
