Note: Prior to today the Jets, Moose and Ice all merited their own note section but as all three teams are now in offseason mode that will likely not be the case on a daily basis.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: 32 Thoughts. Number 6 (Trotz watch & how serious Jets are) and 8 (Arniel and not being a done deal, yet).
The Hockey News: Scheifele, Tarasenko no longer trade candidates. That headline seems like a big leap based off of what Kevin Cheveldayoff told Mike Zeisberger a few days ago at the NHL combine in Buffalo.
NBC Sports: Keeping Scheifele likely makes more sense to Jets than a trade. There are lots of factors to consider when evaluating this type of move and unless you hit a homerun (which seems unlikely) it is hard to see how Winnipeg could be a winner out of a trade.
ESPN: What’s going on with the coaching market? Emily Kaplan writes that it has been suggested to her that Vegas could have a side deal in place for Barry Trotz. Having a deal or “side deal” in place would seem to be somewhat counter to what Friedman has been suggesting that nothing was done yet (as recently as three days ago) although he did indicate something could happen quickly if the veteran coach sees something that fits but added that “nobody’s necessarily expecting that to happen”.
Ice news:
CBC: Ice coach, president win top honours at Western Hockey League awards. The pair are recognized for the very good season their club had this season in Winnipeg.
