Note: The Jets dropped a stinker last night as the homestand from hell continued with a 6-1 loss to the Oilers which leaves them with one final chance to try and turn things around having lost four of four at home so far with one final game to go on Wednesday. Today they are scheduled to practice today as 12 noon so stay tuned for the Practice Report.
Note II: Big news from Monday was the news that Nikolaj Ehlers is done for the regular season although the team is confident/hopeful that he will be back for the playoffs according to head coach Paul Maurice.
Note III: The Moose looked poised to win their sixth game in a row yesterday afternoon but a late goal by Stockton sent the game to overtime which solved nothing and forced the game to a shootout where, despite a filthy goal by team points leader Nathan Todd, the home side couldn’t get it done and were forced to settle for a single point. Manitoba will be looking to keep things rolling tonight as they play their fourth straight game against Stockton. Puck drop at 6 PM.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Five important questions the struggling Winnipeg Jets needs to answer to turn their stretch run around. (Paywall). While folks have plenty of questions about this team Murat has cut it down to five which include: 1) Is Winnipeg’s defence good enough to handle Edmonton’s transition-based attack? 2) So what can Paul Maurice do to change things up? 3) Can Mark Scheifele ramp up his game in time to handle Connor McDavid? 4) Can Kevin Cheveldayoff still impose a solution. 5) How can the Jets beat this adversity?

Winnipeg Free Press: Something is terribly wrong. (Paywall). Mike feels that something stinks in Denmark (which given the Ehlers news is probably appropriate).
Winnipeg Free Press: Oilers superstar McDavid scores three times, adds assist in rout of Jets. (Paywall). Jay gives you his insight into last night’s contest.
Sportsnet: McDavid takes over again as Oilers continue to own Hellebuyck, Jets. Alternate headline: Best player in the world shows why he is best player in the world.
Edmonton Sun: Oilers crush Jets in lopsided playoff preview. If you followed hockey in the 1980s it has been a season of Smythe like disappointments by the present incarnation of the Jets who seems to be doing their best to channel the Jets 1.0.

Connor McDavid has put up 19 points in eight games against the Jets this year, but says he doesn’t approach Winnipeg any differently than other teams in the North division. He also talks about how crucial this series is with things tightening up in the standings.
TSN: How much will Ehlers’ injury impact where the Jets finish in the North?
