Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose news, video and audio.

Note:  The Jets were off on Sunday following the conclusion of their five-game road trip. Today they are back in action as they welcome the Habs to town for a pair of games starting tonight.  Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM so be sure to stay tuned for the pre-game report.  Puck drop is at 7 PM. Join us afterwards for our post-game show (be sure to smash that like/subscribe button).

Note II:  Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will hold a media availability today at 12 noon. Unless I am mistaken this is likely just a midseason chat.  You can watch it here.

Note III:  The Moose were off on Sunday and will take today off as well as they currently have a 12  day stretch between hockey games. With both the NHL and AHL clubs in Winnipeg the taxi squad could get a boost.  Manitoba hits the ice tomorrow at 12 noon out at the IcePlex for practice.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to the gameScott gets you set up with a look ahead to tonight’s contest between Winnipeg and Montreal. He looks at: 1) Rinse, repeat. 2) Ornery Habs. 3) The King of Denmark. 4) Ensuring it was only an outlier. 5) Road warriors.

Winnipeg Sun:  Bits by BilleckI don’t know what Scott was thinking giving Drew credit for his column name. Regardless of how the name came about Scott wrote about: 1) Jets prove they belong in the same sentence with the North Division’s best. 2) Measuring sticks. 3) DeMelo’s promotion. 4) Appleton is a beast.

Winnipeg Sun: Stanley sticking out for all the right reasonsThere were a lot of people who wanted to label the defenceman as a bust because he spent some time marinating in the AHL.  The reality is he cannot be faulted for where he was drafted or who was taken after him back in 2016.  He came to camp hungry for an opportunity and has opened eyes.

Winnipeg Free Press: A look at the high-flying Jets top performers. (Paywall). There is no doubt that the Jets did well last week but the key for this team has not been getting too high or too low after a win or loss.  Mike also hands out some midseason hardware.

Sportsnet: Jets’ statement win over Maple Leafs caps off exemplary road trip. It was as important a game as the Jets have played this season to date.
