Note:  The Jets kicked off their four-game road trip with a wild 6-5 win over the Oilers last night in Edmonton. They are scheduled to practice today ahead of tomorrow’s re-match.  Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II:  The Moose weren’t quite as fortunate as their parent club as they dropped their home/season opener last night 3-2 to the Marlies.  However despite the loss the prospects did well with Cole Perfetti (see here) and Declan Chisholm (see here) both scoring their first pro goals in their first pro game. Re-match with the Marlies will be tonight at 7 pm.

Jets news:

Sportsnet:  Pionk flies under radar with Jets, but ‘amazing’ play drawing attention. More and more you are seeing why the Jets were willing to take him in the Trouba trade.  Ken wrote about the soft-spoken Minnesotan.

TSN: Tippett won’t be happy, Edmonton had breakdowns all over the place. Winnipeg and Edmonton battled back-and-forth in a wild affair, with the Jets coming out on top thanks to a game-winning goal from captain Blake Wheeler. TSN Hockey analyst Mike Johnson joins SportsCentre to break down the game and the terrific play of Mark Scheifele.

TSN: Not having Dubois back right away may not be a bad thing for Jets. Pierre-Luc Dubois has played in just two games since being acquired by the Jets and has yet to record his first point with the team, but at least in the short term, That’s Hockey explains why giving him more time to adapt to his new team could pay off.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve: Moose to play remainder of season (after February) at Iceplex.  Interesting report from the folks at Global.  Makes sense from a cost perspective as I suspect the IcePlex is a lot more affordable to run over the downtown arena.

Illegal Curve: Moose name four players as alternate captains; no captain this seasonWith the retirement of Winnipegger and last ever Thrashers draft pick Peter Stoykewych from pro hockey last season it meant the Manitoba Moose would be without a captain in 2021. While they won’t have someone wearing the C they will have four with an A.
