Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose news, video and audio.

Note:  The Jets took Wednesday off following their successful conclusion to 2019 in Colorado.  Today they will kick off 2020 with a date against the red-hot Maple Leafs (8-1-1- in last 10) later this evening at Bell MTS Place as the lone home game before they head out on the road.  Morning skate is set to get underway at 10:30 AM and there are some questions regarding the backend with some guys getting banged up in Denver on Tuesday.  Stay tuned for the pre-game report with the latest news and audio.  UpdateNathan Beaulieu will be out a minimum of a month.

Note II:  While most Jets fans weren’t likely paying the Winter Classic in Texas on Wednesday much heed (aside from the score between Dallas and Nashville) there was an interesting piece of news as it was revealed that the Wild would host the 2021 Winter Classic at Target Field.  While the Jets aren’t the frontrunners it certainly seems like they are in contention.

Note III:  The Moose also took the day off on Wednesday after they ended 2019 with a win over the IceHogs.  They will be back on the ice today as they get set for a two-game set against the Eagles this weekend in Winnipeg starting with a game tomorrow night.  Update:  They will be getting a boost as the Jets reassigned Joona Luoto to their AHL affiliate and they also recalled Jets 2016 4th rounder Jacob Cederholm from the ECHL.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Top 5 Jets games, moments from the 2010s Scott looked back at the last eight and a half seasons of Jets hockey and picked out the top games and moments.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Connor not afraid of new heights.  (Paywall).  The kid is a goal scorer.  He did it in college.  He did it in the AHL (eventually) and he does it in the NHL.  He should hit 40+ this season and 50 might not be outside the realm of possibility for the Michigan product.

Winnipeg Free Press: Brooks to anchor fourth line against Jets. (Paywall). Not an article specifically about the Jets but it is about a Winnipegger who will be playing in his third NHL game and first ever in Winnipeg (and he, like me, called West Kildonan home so that means he merits mention).
