Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets need to raise their game. Looks like Jets fans are going to have to road trip a bit more to make the players feel like they are at the MTS Centre. They are going to need to have a major improvement on their next road trip if they want to even consider the post season.
Winnipeg Free Press: He’s no ORDINARY CLAUDE. As coach Noel would say “looks like he might be a player” for the Jack Adams. Of course he is going to need to have his team finish “above the line” for him to get real consideration.
ChrisD.ca: Jim Slater to visit fans at work. Suddenly the idea of going to work is going to be a lot more fun. Wonder if he will work on the TPS reports with fans?
San Jose Mercury News: Sharks travel to Winnipeg, which has embraced its new Jets. A nice article which discusses the return of the NHL to Winnipeg. Good refresher for Sharks fans who might still associate Foxwarren, Manitoba’s Pat Falloon and the Jets.
Winnipeg Sun: Noel wants Jets to mimic effort of elite. The Jets have got to show that they can have killer instinct and that one goal given up, won’t lead to another one or two in quick succession.
Winnipeg Sun: First goal by Fehr a weight-lifter. No question that big #17 was happy to get the monkey off his back.
Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:
The Telegram: IceCaps push back. They hadn’t played very well against this Toronto team all season long, but finally played a complete 60 minutes and knocked off the other division leader.
Next opponent news – San Jose Sharks:
Winnipeg Free Press: ‘Swimming with Sharks’. As someone who has selected the Sharks for years in his playoff pool I’m still waiting for this team to take that next step. Will this be the year?
Winnipeg Sun: Thornton, San Jose ready for MTS Centre environment. They might be ready for 15,003 fans but what happens to the Sharks psyche if they see that the last fan is none other than, Manitoba raised Neil Young, who is a Sharks fan, as well as a Jets supporter. No word if Young will be at the MTS Centre tonight.
San Jose Mercury News: McLellan opens up about his passion for coaching. He has led his team quite well since taking over in 2008. While making the Conference Finals two years in a row in nothing to scoff at, his squad needs to get to that next level quite soon.
