Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets thought taking a day off was so nice they figured they try it twice as coach Maurice decided to give his crew another 24 hours to recover before getting them back to the grind.  So the team will take today off and hit the MTS Centre for a practice tomorrow morning.

Note II:  But just because the Jets are off doesn’t mean you will be sans hockey as over in North Carolina the Moose are going to be playing game one of the five they will play this road trip.  Tonight they are in Charlotte to take on the Checkers for the first time this season.  Mitch Peacock will have the call starting at 5:45 pm with puck drop at 6 pm.

Jets news:

NBC Sports:  Five team stats you may find interestingOr in the case of the Winnipeg Jets, who are featured in the final one of the five, terrifying.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Laine shoots — his team in the foot. But what doesn’t kill you… (Paywall).  One thing about this kid I don’t think we will have to worry about is accountability.  By my check he’s done an interview in just about every city Winnipeg has visited and hasn’t made himself unavailable, good games or bad.

NHL.com:  Josh Morrissey establishes himself with Jets.  You really got a sense of it last season when he was with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL that it was only a matter of time that he would be making that transition to the NHL.  Because we live in an instant gratification society fans were concerned that the 2013 1st round pick would be a bust because he hadn’t made a quick enough transition to the big league but that extra bit of seasoning seems to have done him well.
