Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  In case you somehow missed the news the Jets moved up from the sixth to the second spot in the NHL Entry Draft which will take place next month in June courtesy of the Draft Lotto.

Jets news:

Sportsnet:  Jets could look to trade other first-round pick.  (video – includes a 12 minute chat with GM Kevin Cheveldayoff).  Don’t misread that headline.  It says ‘other’ as many are so focused on the 2nd overall pick they’ve forgotten the Jets have the 22nd pick courtesy of the Ladd trade with Chicago.

TSN:  Off-season game plan.  Looks at a Jets team that has a roster that is ready to contend which just needs some goaltending to back it up.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Buffalo just took on a whole new appeal.  (Paywall).  While fans were already excited about the end of June but that excitement level just ratcheted up a whole new level.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Lucky Jets are in like Finn.  (Paywall).  Tim recaps the night that was as Winnipeg picked up a big boost/accelerated the draft and development phase of the Jets plan.

TSN:  Plenty to get excited about for Jets.  Jets fans are already looking well ahead to see what is going to happen in training camp next season.  Dennis writes about this and a number of other topics related to the squad we may see to start the year.

Globe and Mail:  Karma gives Jets a gift almost as big as Leafs’ in the NHL draft.  Some fans seem to believe that ‘doing it (ending the season) the right way’ led to the team getting a top pick.  Eric writes about the karma potentially involved in the selection.

Winnipeg Sun:  Fans applaud No. 2 draft pick.  Cannot tell you how many people I’ve spoken to since Saturday night who are overjoyed at this draft spot and are discussing the possibilities it will mean for the Jets.

National Post:  Dismal seasons, draft lottery results mean top prospects going into Canadian teams’ pipelines.   Michael looks at what it means and who they will pick.

Jets video:

Sportsnet:  One-on-one with Kevin Cheveldayoff.  Scott Morrison sits down with Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff to get his thoughts on the NHL Draft Lottery.
