Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The final week of the regular season starts today in beautiful Minnesota. I’m sure there are quite a few Jets fans down in St. Paul for a huge contest between the Jets and Wild.  Be sure to keep it locked to @illegalcurve for the latest Jets news before and after the game.

Note II:  Goalie prospect Eric Comrie was re-assigned to the St. John’s IceCaps who have four games remaining on their AHL schedule.  To read the release click here.

Games of significance last night:  None.

Games of significance tonight:  Kings (@ Canucks).  Stars (@ Sharks).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Going for the throat.  The Jets bench boss sounds like he is a little more willing to go away from his blue print this week as the pressure of the situation may see his team change their style as they try and secure points.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Chiarot the man if Toby can’t go.   Sounds like it was a better prognosis than expected initially but I doubt we see Enstrom in tonight’s game.

Enstrom heads up ice

Winnipeg Sun:  Wild run has put Jets in precarious playoff push.  It is quite remarkable that six weeks ago the Jets had such a large lead on Minnesota.  Folks had already ruled the Wild as done but they certainly weren’t counting on Devan “pucks can’t get past me” Dubnyk.

National Post:  Senators, Jets in must-win scenarios: What Canadian NHL teams need to do to make the playoffs.  A look at what the Canadian teams are gonna have to do this week to get into the playoffs.  What a final week of the season it is going to be.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice confirms Enstrom day-to-day; Chiarot off IR.  Fans  had to wonder “why us?” when Enstrom left the game against the Canucks with less than five minutes to go in the 3rd period.  On the flip side Ben Chiarot sounds like he will be in the lineup and is ready for the challenge of big game minutes.

Illegal Curve:  Practice Report.  Before the Jets left for St. Paul we were at the MTS Centre and filed this report which looks at which players were on the ice for practice as well as has audio from interviews with Chris Thorburn, Mark Stuart and Lee Stempniak.

Jets audio:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice scrum.  Easter welcome.  Update on Enstrom.  Status of Chiarot.  Has “playing the right way” faded into the background with the urgency of games?  Finding out right now about established base.  On the run Dubnyk has been on for Minnesota.  What has turned Wild around?  Most depth up front all season going into a back to back.  Being on the playoff line this late in the season.  Difficulty of sticking to his structure on the road.  Challenges that Ben Chiarot will face if he plays.  On the Lowry/Stempniak/Perreault line coming together.  On what Tlusty has brought into the lineup.

Wild news:

Minneapolis Star-Tribune:  Haula will play vs. Winnipeg; Zucker might return Thursday.  Anything you want to know about the Jets opposition is contained in beat writer Michael Russo’s column.

Minneapolis Star-Tribune:  Vanek-Pominville chemistry starting to emerge.  The Wild also have quite a Buffalo duo in these two.
