It’s been a long road back for Jets prospect Garrett Brown (2022 4th), who turned pro last season after winning another NCAA championship with the University of Denver. He got into fou games with Manitoba during their playoff run.
He was expected to start this season with the Moose but suffered an injury at the Prospect Challenge in Quebec ahead of training camp. Initially, there were fears that the injury could cost him the entire season. However, once Jets training camp got underway, head coach Scott Arniel provided a positive update, indicating they had received great news that the injury wasn’t as significant as initially feared, although Brown would still need some time to recover.
A week later, Arniel said Brown was “moving a lot better” and confirmed that he wouldn’t require surgery.
Still, it was a lengthy recovery process, with Brown taking part in numerous injured reserve skates as he worked his way back to full health.
Today, Winnipeg cleared him to be loaned to Manitoba, and he joined the Moose for practice wearing a yellow, non-contact jersey.
We had a chance to catch up with him following today’s skate to discuss his injury, the recovery process and his return to the ice.
