What should the Winnipeg Whiteout party on Donald Street be called?

What should the Street Party be called?

By now folks are very familiar with the scene on Donald Street as thousands of folks from all over the province descend on downtown Winnipeg to join in the festivities surrounding Winnipeg Jets games.

The creativity of Winnipegers has been on full display with the costumes and signs that we see in the whiteout madness. (For more pictures check out our Instagram account @illegalcurvre).

In fact it has spread so much that organizers made the decision between game 1 and game 2 to significantly increase the area a further block from Graham to St. Mary and spill into Millennium Library park to accommodate all the people who wanted to partake.

Even being inside Bell MTS Place we can hear the passion of the fans who are having an absolute blast outside in less than ideal conditions as they cheer on the Jets.

Last night in the pressbox and again on today’s Illegal Curve Hockey Drew, Ezra and I discussed the idea of a name for the street party.  Is it sufficient to be called the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party?  Or would it be good to have something like they have in Toronto with Jurassic Park (for Raptors/Leafs games).  So we put it to our audience (both on twitter and on the radio) and we received a flood of responses including:

– The Runway.
– The Jet Stream.
– The Snow Drift.
– Tarmac
– The Landing Strip.
– The Carrier (Carrying the team through the playoffs).
– Area 204.
– The Polar Vortex.
– The Blizzard on Donald.
– Donald Air Force Base.
– Flight Deck.
– The Hangar.
– Chill Zone.
– The Landing Deck.
– The Cockpit.
– Blizzard Boulevard.
– Ground Support.
– The Arctic Square.

This discussion has been a ton of fun.  Do you have any suggestions?  Maybe the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party is sufficient.  Feel free to share in the comments section or on Twitter and  Instagram.
