Moose survive do-or-die Game 2 with late winner, push series with Admirals to deciding Game 3

This was a do-or-die game for Manitoba in their best-of-three series with Milwaukee who took Game 1 by a final score of 4-1 which meant the home team had to win to force a Game 3. A loss meant the end of their season and a long summer ahead.

Lineup news:

Elias Salomonsson, ready to go and played in his first playoff game which meant Dawson Barteaux came out. As well they swapped goalies giving Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis his first ever playoff game.

Moose lineup:

Barlow-Ford-PDG
Lambert-Yager-Wahlin
Shaw-Gustafsson-Duehr
JAD-Zhilkin-Fagemo

Phillips-Salomonsson
Sautner-Bauer
Anhorn-Clague

DiVincentiis

Notable:

Tough first shot on net for Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis in this do-or-die game for the Moose and he’s up to the task.

Best chance on the first PP of the game goes to David Gustafsson who tries the Gabriel Vilardi (it was unsuccessful).

Moose dodged a bullet as the refs reviewed this play but determined it hit the post.

Manitoba vs Milwaukee = two teams that do not care for each other.

Isaak Phillips lays the body in what has been a physical opening period of Game 2.

As soon as you lose that faceoff with just three seconds left the D man has to get back to prevent a shorthanded breakaway. Moose do not and as a result they give up a shorthanded goal.

Huge response by the Moose who tie the game on Parker Ford’s second of the series. Elias Salomonsson looked like he’d have his first but Murray made the save. He gets an assist. So did Walker Duehr. Credit Manitoba for continuing to dig for that puck.

The captain, Mason Shaw was that close to giving the home team the lead with this shorthanded chance. Nice work by Walker Duehr to get the puck loose on the forecheck.

Walker Duehr sees an opportunity and lays the body which gets his bench to their feet.

Moose have not lacked chances in this hockey game but Matthew Murray has stood tall for the Admirals. Samuel Fagemo gets this opportunity as Tyrel Bauer fires it on net after Jaret Anderson-Dolan makes a nice play at the blueline.

Looked dark when the Moose took a third straight 3rd period penalty but I forgot this team plays better on the PK. They killed it.

Moose would head to the PP with 1:52 left in the 3rd tied 1-1.

The crowd of approx 5000 get to their feet as David Gustafsson puts the home team ahead 2-1 late in the 3rd. Jets prospect Brayden Yager picked up his first playoff point with the primary assist.

Moose win Game 2 by a final score of 2-1 and force a winner take all Game 3 on Sunday. And pandemonium to end this hockey game as you’d expect from two teams that dislike each other. What a hockey game.
