Manitoba Moose Injury Update

An update on some of the injured players on the AHL squad.

Manitoba Moose practice at IcePlex

The Skinny:

The Moose hit the ice today after a day off on Monday following a successful weekend series against the Texas Stars to kick off six straight games at home.  They won 3-2 on Saturday night and won 2-0 on Sunday.  These wins are very important as the team attempts to get back into the playoff discussion.

Injury News:

The Moose lost captain Peter Stoykewych to a concussion in the game on Saturday night when he was taken out by an illegal check to the head, a play which earned Stars forward Samuel Laberge a two-game suspension from the AHL.  Stoykewych will remain out of the lineup at least a week as he follows concussion protocol.

Following skate today Coach Vincent provided an update on some of his injured players.

Defenceman Jimmy Oligny who has been out due to non hockey related surgery since January 19th is healthy and ready to return to the Manitoba lineup.  As is forward Emile Poirier who has been out with a broken leg since mid December although he is still working on getting his conditioning back up to game speed.

Defenceman Luke Green has been out of the lineup since a December 7th game in Stockton against the Heat in which he received a concussion and he continues to deal with his concussion symptoms.  Veteran forward Ryan White hasn’t played a game since back on December 1st against the Condors in Bakersfield and he is currently listed as day-to-day.

Up Next:

The Moose will meet the Chicago Wolves here in Winnipeg on Wednesday at Bell MTS Place at 7 pm as they play their third game of this six-game homestand.
