Late Afternoon Delight: Is free agency overrated?

  • In his weekly notebook, Eric Duhatschek tries to discern whether all the fuss over the past couple days has actually made that many teams better?  I know I always say this, but he’s the best in the business for a reason.  Excellent piece as always.
  • An interesting post late last night from the Battle of Alberta regarding Dany Heatley’s attitude considering what he has been through in the past.  Hard to disagree with Matt.
  • Joe Thornton gives the puck away quite a bit, but is that part of being the puck-handling player that he is?  Gabe does great work, so I suggest you bookmark his site and blog.
  • Why did the Oilers give Nikolai Khabibulin a four-year deal?  It is a great question. 
  • Puck Daddy gives out free agency grades.  Greg, only a B- for the Flames? What gives?
