Game 7: Winnipeg Jets vs Chicago Blackhawks pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and latest updates ahead of puck drop.

The Jets departed Winnipeg on Thursday following an optional practice. While there was hope of gaining more clarity on Josh Morrissey’s status, the only update was that he remains day-to-day. That would seem to suggest he’s unlikely to suit up tonight in Chicago, although we’ll have to wait until morning skate for a better indication of his availability. Given the nature of Winnipeg’s last win over Minnesota it seems likely they’ll still with the same roster but again since they didn’t do a full team skate yesterday we’ll have to wait to see if there are any changes.

The Blackhawks stumbled out of the gate with a 1-5-0 record before getting a boost from the return of captain Connor Bedard, who helped Chicago defeat Pittsburgh in his first game back. While the Hawks weren’t expected to be a playoff contender this season, they certainly have aspirations of avoiding another finish near the bottom of the standings. Interestingly, Chicago has scored a similar number of goals to Winnipeg through the early portion of the season, but the Blackhawks have had considerably more trouble keeping the puck out of their own net.

Odds:

Winnipeg heads into tonight’s Central Division matchup against Chicago with a slight edge as both teams look to build on victories in their previous games. The Jets are coming off a convincing win over Minnesota, while the Blackhawks have received a boost with captain Connor Bedard back in the lineup. A strong start, disciplined play and continued contributions from throughout the lineup could help Winnipeg maintain its momentum and pick up another important divisional victory.
