Some tough news for the Jets out of Chicago as Mike McIntyre reports that Josh Morrissey’s status has changed from day-to-day to week-to-week. According to McIntyre, surgery won’t be required, but the recovery timeline is longer than the team initially hoped.
It’s not entirely surprising given how head coach Scott Arniel spoke about No. 44 on Tuesday when he indicated the team was still trying to determine the extent of the injury.
“And again, I’m not hiding anything here, J Mo is still day-to-day. We’re still trying to figure this one out here, so I may have an update for you tomorrow, but as of right now, we’re just trying to figure this out here.”

This is a significant blow for the Jets, who will now have to navigate an extended stretch without their top defenceman. Morrissey plays a critical role for Winnipeg in all situations, and while the team has managed without him so far, his absence will certainly be felt as the schedule moves along.
