Game 7 of pre-season post-game recap: Jets 5 Wild 4 in OT

Post-game from the Jets dressing room as well as from Coach Maurice.

XceL pst game

The Jets will finish the pre-season 3-3-1 after today’s 5-4 OT win against the Wild.  It was an odd sort of game which saw a number of lead changes, the Jet score shorthanded as well as on the power play, give up a late goal on a 6 on 4 situation for Minnesota but ultimately saw Josh Morrissey finish off a 2-0 with Blake Wheeler to win the game in overtime.

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats here are the results from this afternoon’s game via Natural Stat Trick.

David Gustafsson

Coach Maurice:  His range of emotions watching Josh Morrissey retrieve his stick/score his OT winner.  His thoughts on David Gustaffson, Neal Pionk?  Thoughts on the Jets special teams?  Update on Bryan Little?  Thoughts on Ville Heinola?   If it is up to him is Heinola making the team?  Status of Mark Scheifele?  More on Gustafsson.  How does he manage the next three days?  Thoughts on Kyle Connor signing.

Bryan Little News:

No update on the Jets veteran centre who was knocked out of the game in the 1st by a high hit which his coach described as a “that was a horseshit hit by the way.  I didn’t like that at all”.  He didn’t have any update on Little’s status.  Here is a video for those who didn’t see it:

Health Update:

Jets top centre Mark Scheifele was originally slated to play today but when asked about his status coach Maurice indicated “Highly, highly precautionary.  His back tightened up in practice yesterday and we kicked him off and said you’re not playing.”
