Chris Thorburn back on Winnipeg Jets Alumni Game roster, setting up GST line reunion

The fan-favourite forward’s return opens the door for a reunion of the famed GST line.

Late last month former Jets captain Blake Wheeler was on 680 CJOB and said he was hopeful they could convince Chris Thorburn, who now works for the Blues, to return to Winnipeg for the Jets Alumni Game in October.

Thorburn was included on the initial roster but was absent from the next group of players announced.

However, with tickets for the Alumni Game going on sale Thursday, the Jets released an updated roster that once again included Thorburn.

Alongside Tanner Glass and Jim Slater, Thorburn formed the famed GST line during the Jets’ inaugural season back in Winnipeg.

While the team announced Thorburn’s addition, two notable names absent from today’s roster were Nik Antropov, who scored the first goal in Jets 2.0 history on October 9, 2011, and Drew Stafford, who recorded 19 points in 26 games after arriving in Winnipeg and helped the Jets secure their first playoff berth since relocation.
