Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | July 17, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: We spoke with Jets management, prospects and staff throughout draft weekend and Development Camp, and we’ll continue turning the most newsworthy comments from those interviews into standalone stories in the coming weeks.

Note II: On Thursday we got the full 84-game schedule for the Jets. Eleven of their first 16 games are against 2025-26 playoff teams, plus two vs. a Florida club expected to bounce back which adds up to one challenging start to the season. They also have a curious home and home on consecutive days against the Stars in December. Check it all out here.

Note III: After playing more than 300 NHL games during his career, I thought Phil Di Giuseppe might pursue one more NHL opportunity with another organization. Instead, he’s heading to Sweden to continue his professional career.

Note IV: Stay tuned as next week we will be catching up with Cole Perfetti in a media availability after the RFA signed a five-year deal with Winnipeg on Wednesday. That leaves Tyrel Bauer as the final RFA for the Jets without a contract although the expectation is it should be done sooner rather than later.
