Winnipeg Jets sign Cole Perfetti to a five-year contract

The Jets and Perfetti avoid arbitration by inking this new deal.

It was a difficult 2025-26 campaign for Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti, who entered the season in a contract year but suffered a high-ankle sprain in the final pre-season game. He made his regular-season debut on November 9 in Anaheim and later acknowledged he likely returned before he was fully healthy.

After reaching the 50-point mark (18 goals, 32 assists) for the first time in his career during the first season of a two-year contract signed with Winnipeg in September 2024, he finished the 2025-26 campaign with 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists). He also missed 14 games due to injury.

What was expected to be a key step forward in Perfetti’s development instead turned into a challenging contract year, as injuries and inconsistent production complicated his long-term negotiating position with the Jets.

Not unexpectedly he filed for salary arbitration in early July with an arb date of July 20th. Unsurprisingly the two sides have avoided that unpleasant process, instead agreeing to a five-year contract with a six-million dollar AAV. News broken by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
