Note: Two days of Jets exit media availabilities concluded yesterday. On Friday we heard from eight players including Cole Perfetti | Jonathan Toews | Gabriel Vilardi | Josh Morrissey | Adam Lowry | Mark Scheifele | Kyle Connor | Connor Hellebuyck. And then yesterday we heard from both head coach Scott Arniel and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. We still have to review the tape to glean any interesting tidbits which we will put out this week.
Note II: There wasn’t a ton of notable nuggets from Monday’s conversations. We learned that Gabriel Vilardi will be the third Jets players heading to Switzerland to play for Canada at the World Championships. We also got health updates on Nikita Chibrikov and Elias Salomonsson were still being evaluated before they could be loaned to the Moose for their playoff run.
Note III: The Moose skated on Monday as they prepared for their first playoff game against the Admirals which is coming up on Wednesday night here in Winnipeg. David Gustafsson didn’t skate as per Zach Nolan, which isn’t a surprise given this play midway through the game although he did play the rest of it. They are back on the ice today so expect another Playoff Practice Report.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: The five weeks that defined the Jets regular season. Was too high a hill to climb back into contention (even though they got close).
Winnipeg Sun: More questions than answers from Jets coach, GM. Based on the comments I’ve read from folks, the fanbase is not happy right now.
Winnipeg Sun: It was Mea culpa Monday for the Jets management group. That’s all well and good but the faith they have after a few excellent regular seasons seems to be absent from the fans.

Winnipeg Free Press: Arniel prepared to tackle Jets’ shortcomings over off-season. (Paywall). He did sound prepared to leave no stone unturned in his quest for answers.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets GM appears unconcerned about job security despite club’s nosedive of a season. (Paywall). There is only one other GM who has held the job longer (and with the Blues Doug Armstrong set to retire) he is effectively the longest serving GM with just one Conference Final under his Jets resume.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets must pick a lane – Proactively retool or be forced to reactively rebuild. (Paywall). Murat with a no holds barred column on how this hockey team needs to make a choice.
TSN: Cheveldayoff not ready to turn page on frustrating season. That’s not some big revelation. They need to do a significant audit of this team from top to bottom.
Sportsnet: Early draft targets for the Winnipeg Jets. With the Jets currently set to draft 7th overall never too early to learn about the kids in the upcoming draft.
Global News: Will Hellebuyck’s ‘no nonsense’ message jolt Winnipeg Jets brass into action? It kinda has to.
CBC: Jets might have been overconfident after 2024-25 success, GM says. Losing Nikolaj Ehlers and not coming close to replacing him was an absolute disaster. So was getting slower. Prevented this team from playing the style of game that worked effectively for them the season prior.
