Latest injury update on Winnipeg Jets Elias Salomonsson & Nikitai Chibrikov

Before they can be sent down to the Moose the pair continue to be evaluated.

It was notable that Nikita Chibrikov was not loaned by the Jets to the Moose on Saturday alongside Brad Lambert and Brayden Yager for the Manitoba playoff push which starts on Wednesday when they have their first round series with Milwaukee here in Winnipeg.

Also not loaned was Elias Salomonsson who has been out since April 2nd when he was on the receiving end of a Jason Robertson reverse hit that put him into concussion protocol. As recently as four days back we heard he was still having good days and bad days and had failed his most recent test.

Today, during Scott Arniel’s end-of-season media availability, he was asked for an update on the pair.

On Chibrikov, he said: “He’s got another evaluation coming here in the next day or two… Chibby’s getting his medical.”

On Salomonsson, he said: “Sal’s doing, what’s today? Monday. Wednesday, I think Sal’s doing another test. He’s skating today out there.”

Kevin Cheveldayoff also volunteered this on Chibrikov:

“Something popped up in the exits there. They’re getting some more opinions to see if it’s something that can be played through or something that may need to be repaired.”

Which basically makes it seem very unlikely either will be ready for the first round of the playoffs for the Moose which start on Wednesday and would go to Sunday if they need three games.
