Winnipeg Jets prospect Sascha Boumedienne (2025 1st) has committed to Ohio State

The Swedish prospect is heading “home” as he spent a few years living in Columbus.

Two days ago we learned that Jets prospect Sascha Boumedienne would be leaving Boston University after two years and entering the Transfer Portal.

But where might the 2025 first rounder of Winnipeg be going?

There was speculation that he could end up at Ohio State or Michigan or Denver.

That conjecture was put to rest when Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald confirmed that Boumedienne would be heading to Ohio State for his junior season.

Perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that he is returning to Columbus, a city he is very familiar with having moved there from Sweden in 2021 when his dad Josef was hired by the Blue Jackets. He spent two years playing with the
Ohio Blue Jackets 16U AAA team.

He won’t be the only Jets prospect defenceman playing for the Buckeyes. Edison Engle (2025 6th) who is currently in the third round of the OHL playoffs with powerhouse Brantford (8-0) is committed to play there next season.
