Manitoba Moose reassign Oskari Salminen to Norfolk Admirals for Kelly Cup Playoffs

The netminder heads back to Virginia after rehabbing in Manitoba.

The Moose recalled goalie Oskari Salminen from the ECHL back on April 18th. The veteran netminder was assigned back in mid February after having a poor start to the 2023-24 season. He was brought back to Manitoba when the Jets recalled Collin Delia to be the third goalie for them during the playoffs, which left Salminen as the backup for first-year pro Thomas Milic.

He started the second last regular season game against the Stars in Texas but after giving up two goals on seven shots he left the game just over 15 minutes into the 1st period with what appeared to be a lower-body injury. When we were doing end of season Moose media last week Salminen was working out with the Manitoba staff at hockey for all centre as he rehabbed the injury.

Today the Moose announced he had been assigned back to the Norfolk Admirals which means the Finnish netminder is ready to get back between the pipes. The Admirals are currently up 2-0 in their best of seven series with the Adirondack Thunder in the North Division Finals. Game 3 goes Wednesday in Norfolk.
