Battle of the Experts: Is he or isn’t He-atley traded?

So is Dany Heatley still an Ottawa Senator or is he now a San Jose Shark? Well it depends on which ‘expert’ you are listening to…..

Well if you’re ESPN’s John Buccigross you say that a deal for Dany Heatley is done.   According to ESPN the deal was:

The 28-year-old forward is set to be part of a three-team deal that would send the Sharks’ Patrick Marleau to the Los Angeles Kings and the Kings’ Alexander Frolov and Jarret Stoll to the Senators.

To read the complete report, including the fact that Sharks GM Doug Wilson, Senators GM Bryan Murray and Kings GM Dean Lombardi all denied the report, click here.

On the other side, we have TSN’s Bob McKenzie who is reporting that:

Sources tell TSN that not only is the report of a three-way deal being done not true, but the Senators are no closer to trading Heatley now than they have been for most of the summer.

Additionally, Sportsnet has gotten involved, reporting that the Senators have cancelled a planned Heatley appearance at a charity golf tournament:

A press release from the Senators stated, “In order to direct attention on the efforts of the Sens Foundation on Friday, Dany Heatley will not take part in the golf charity event.”

So who are we to believe in this battle of the experts?  Even NHL.com has news of this report up on it’s Top Headlines.  Stay tuned to IC as news of Heatley potential move, or not, develops.
