It caused quite a stir when Josh Morrissey was a late scratch for the Jets against the Islanders. It was revealed by team PR that he had sustained an upper body injury sustained during the pre-game warm up.
On Monday in Pittsburgh he skated with the Jets at practice in a regular uniform and it appeared that he would be fine to play in tonight’s game against the Penguins. But then the news came this morning that the Jets had recalled Sami Niku (for Dmitry Kulikov) but also Nelson Nogier.
Turns out the team is planning on sitting Morrissey tonight for precautionary reasons. Coach Maurice was asked about it today in Pittsburgh and he indicated that “Josh is gonna be out. We’ll hold him out another game. Precautionary”. When it was mentioned that Morrissey had practiced the Jets bench boss added “He got through the practice. He just didn’t feel great like an hour after. After I had spoken to you guys. So we just want to be real careful.”
