Jets fans first saw Kristian Reichel as an invitee to Development camp here in Winnipeg as an undrafted forward back in 2018. The product of the Czech Republic is the son of long-time NHLer Robert Reichel.
Reichel signed his first deal with the Manitoba Moose back on July 3rd, 2018. It was a one-year contract which saw him play 55 games scoring twice and adding eight assists in his first season as a pro in North America. One year later he signed another one-year contract with the Moose. Reichel missed about two months with an injury to start the 2019-20 campaign but his second year with the Moose was much better from a production perspective as he scored 12 goals (all even strength) along with five assists in 39 games. This included five goals in the final six games of the season for the Moose as he finished the abbreviated 2019-20 season on the top line with David Gustafsson and Kristian Vesalainen.
CapFriendly reported this morning that Reichel has been signed to a two-year deal:
2020-21: $700,000 Base + $15,000 SB
2021-22: $775,000 Base + $15,000 SB
His salary with the Moose would be $70,000.00 per season.
It isn’t a surprise to me that Reichel earned himself this contract with the Jets as I wrote in my column about the Moose season concluding due to the pandemic “One player who certainly earned himself another contract is Kristian Reichel who was a Jets Development Camp invitee in 2018 and has subsequently signed with the Moose twice.”.
Hard work pays off.
